What is the WOS?
The WOS is a group of dedicated Sprint Car drivers from Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.

How long has the WOS been around?
The WOS was formed in 2004, but most of the drivers have been racing for decades.

Where does the WOS race?
The WOS will primarily race at Wilmot, Wisc. There are 14 WOS exclusive events scheduled for 2007, plus 3 with other sanctioning bodies.

Are there other Sprint Car organizations?
There are several nationwide Sprint Car organizations. The closest other local organization is the Interstate Racing Association (IRA). Most of the WOS members were previous IRA members. You'll see several WOS drivers competing in IRA events that are scheduled in Southern Wisconsin.

What's a Sprint Car?
A sprint car is an open-wheeled specially-built car that runs on short oval tracks. Weighing about 1,400 pounds with the driver, and equiped with a 750+ HP methanol-fueled engine, it has the same power-to-wight ratio as an Indy car.

Are these cars expensive to run?
Sprint cars are extremely expensive to run for amatuers due to their specialized parts. Engines alone can cost over $20,000.

Do these cars run on pavement or dirt?
All WOS events are run on dirt. But there are other sprint car groups that run on pavement.

Are these the cars with the big wings?
Although there are sprint cars that run without wings, the WOS uses the big main wing to increase traction on dirt.

Are these Sprint Cars ever on TV?
Sprint car racing can be seen on a weekly basis on the Outdoor Channel.
